CLAYTON -- The Cloverdale Clovers were able to edge the host Cadets in the morning game of the Class 2A baseball sectional, but errors doomed the Clovers in its evening game against the Covenant Christian Warriors.
The Clovers defeated Cascade 9-5, but fell to the Warriors 7-4 to close out its season. Despite nine errors on the night, Cloverdale threatened in the top of the seventh as they loaded the bases. However, it wasn't meant to be as the Clovers grounded out to finish the game.
Also in action Monday, North Putnam lost to Speedway 7-4 in the sectional semifinal.
The Cougars fell behind early, but the game was tied 4-all in the bottom of the sixth before the Sparkplugs were able to get in front for the win.
Complete game info was not available at press time due to a late finish at the sectional. Full game stories for Cloverdale and North Putnam will appear in Wednesday's edition of the Banner Graphic.
