After stops in Jacksonville, Fla., and New York, Clay County native Andrea Kennedy is back home again in Indiana as the new sales and marketing manager for the Banner Graphic.

She succeeds John York, who will be leaving July 8 to take a job outside of newspaper advertising.

"We, at the Banner Graphic, are fortunate to have someone of Andrea's talents and personality come in and follow John," Banner Graphic General Manager Daryl Taylor said in announcing Kennedy's addition.

"She should fit right in, not only with our operation, but with the community as well. We look forward to the business community getting to know Andrea."

Kennedy, who majored in public relations and communications at Indiana State University, was a territory representative at the Terre Haute Tribune-Star and was later in charge of its Valley Homes weekly real estate product.

She was later recruited by Gannett to start a three-city travel guide, "101 Things to Do," based in Jacksonville, Fla. Kennedy was responsible for all advertising sales there before family responsibilities took her to New York where she became a stay-at-home mom until coming home to Indiana earlier this year.

Kennedy said she has moved back to the Clay County area so that she and her children can be closer to her family's roots. Daughter Olivia, 9, and son Cael, 4, are regulars this summer at Round Barn Day Care.

"I think growing up in Clay County, I have always enjoyed working with small business owners and getting to know them and their needs," the Northview High School product said. "I am really looking forward to working with the business owners in Greencastle and Putnam County as I get to know the area better."

Kennedy said it has been an easy transition so far as she has visited local businesses with York to learn their advertising wants and needs.

"I really like the people I have already met here in the area, and I have really enjoyed the paper and the people at the Banner Graphic," she added. "I look forward to the Putnam County Fair and a chance to meet even more people."

Kennedy will head an advertising department that includes salesmen Chris Gilbert and Merlin Maltsberger.
