Roger D. Nees, 73, Cloverdale, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1937 in Clay County and was the son of the late Adam L. and Nancy E. (Routt) Nees.
He was a graduate of Cloverdale High School. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard for 28 years. Roger was a brick mason and had been employed by the Cloverdale Community School Corporation.
He was a member of the American Legion, past president of Cloverdale Music Boosters, past president of Cloverdale Little League and had coached numerous Little League and High School teams. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, traveling and was a die-hard Dodger fan. He was a kind generous Christian man who was devoted to his family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Bobbi; his children, Beth Gillenwater and fiancée Wayne Burdette and sons Justin and Josh of Poland, Jo Ellen Remsburg and husband Troy of Greencastle and John Nees and wife Sheri of Stayton, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Ben Weaver, Zac Remsburg, Jonathan Weaver, Keegan Remsburg, Molly Gillenwater, Betsy Gillenwater and Jackson Roger Nees; sister Pauline Kelly of Crawfordsville; sister-in-law Marie Nees of Cloverdale; brother-in-law Ronald L. Baker and wife Cathy of Indianapolis; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Margie M. Smith and brother, Dora Gordon "Bo" Nees.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
