The Putnam County National Night Out Knight reminds everyone the fifth annual event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

The fifth annual Putnam County National Night Out program is scheduled for Tuesday night at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

The 6-9 p.m. event is geared toward families with elementary or middle school-age children. Emphasis is on crime prevention and staying drug-free.

In addition to numerous activities, the event will feature free refreshments and free swimming for families in attendance.

Families will also receive a bag of school supplies. Last year 600 bags of basic school supplies were handed out. Organizers expect as many as 1,000 people to show up this year.

The Park Board has designated National Night Out as a smoke-free event at the park.

Everyone is invited to come and see how agencies all across Putnam County support the health, safety and well-being of our youth.

Rain date is Thursday, Aug. 4.

Anyone with questions concerning the annual National Night Out event may contact Linda Merkel of the Putnam County Youth Development Commission at 653-9342.
