Clarence Edward 'Ed' Henderson

Clarence Edward "Ed" Henderson, 75, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at his residence in Greencastle, where he resided for past the past three years. He transferred to Overland Park, Kan., in 1975 with IBM.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1935 in Fillmore. He was the son of the late Robert K. and Dorothy L. (Johnson) Henderson.

He graduated from New Winchester High School in 1954 and then joined the Navy, where he served in the Korean War.

He began employment with IBM in 1954, where he started in the cafeteria and worked 14 years in the capacity of cafeteria manager. He then transferred to Overland Park with IBM, where he retired after 36 years as senior administrative specialty account analyst.

He was an avid fisherman, spending a lot of time in Canada doing fly-outs after retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, first in Shawnee Mission, Kan., and then joined the American Legion in Greencastle. He was also a member of the Disabled Veterans Association.

He is survived by his daughters Vicki Sillery and husband Tim, Betsy Pingleton and husband John, Cindy Henderson and husband Hiram and Deede Henderson; a son, Eddie Henderson; stepsons Jim Lash, Dano Lash and David Lash; dear and special friend Norma Whiteman; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse Rosalee (Daggs) Henderson, daughter Kathy Miller, a brother Robert "Bob" Henderson and a great-grandson Dakota Lee O'Shea.

A Memorial Service will be held on at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating. His final resting place will be at the Fillmore Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
