Backroad Bike Tour scheduled for Sept. 10

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

The 2011 Backroad Bike Tour, organized by Friends of the Parks of Putnam County/People Pathways Project and Covered Bridge Cyclery, will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 in conjunction with Putnam County Airport Appreciation Days.

Participants may choose from one of three routes: The 12-mile ride will provide casual riders with just enough challenge to make you feel great, the 36-mile ride will be a bit more challenging with hills and valleys, and the 63-mile ride will be for those riders who want to ride a metric century.

A SAG wagon will be cruising the routes in case anyone runs into trouble or just wants a ride home. Refreshments and cold drinks will be served at the SAG stops by friendly, encouraging volunteers.

Also, all riders will have the opportunity to win gift cards to local Putnam County eating establishments and businesses.

Registration will be from 7-9 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Putnam County Airport, 100 Ballard Lane.

To pre-register or for more information, persons may contact Larry at Covered Bridge Cyclery, 24 S. Indiana St., Greencastle, or online at larry@coveredbridgecyclery.com or via phone at (765) 630-8448 or by calling Joy Marley at 653-6178.

All funds will be used to help maintain and extend the community's growing network of multi-use trails.
