Contributions key to Kids Count camp success

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

To the Editor:

A special thank you to the following donors and supporters for their generous contributions to Kids Count, and in particular to the Survivor with Character Day Camp.

The 150 campers had fun playing games, making cards to send to our Soldiers in Afghanistan, attending reading, science, craft, nutrition and character-building programs.

They attended workshops provided by our Putnam County Extension Office, DNR and Master Gardeners. We also had guest speakers talk to the children about different subjects throughout the week. We had Putnam County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, and Chris "Lights Out" Lytle, a UFC wrestler.

North Putnam Middle School counselor Andy Cottingham, came and conducted an Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This program focuses on the role of the bystander standing up for their classmates. Thank you again; you have made it possible to help us with touching the lives of others.
