George F. Glore

George F. Glore, 93, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in La Mirada, Calif., where he lived for many years.

He was the son of George F. Glore Sr. and Mary Francis Glore of Greencastle.

Mr. Glore was a World War II veteran, serving in northern France. He attended two terms at the Biarritz American University before returning home after the war and moving to the West Coast.

He was a partner in the Dorand Door Co. for many years. In later years he worked with his son Bill in the fireproof door business.

He is survived by wife Jean of La Mirada; daughters Sheryl Saylor and husband Don of Sequim, Wash., and Dee Sutton and husband Glen, formerly of California; son Bill Glore and wife Anneka of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sister Suzanne Allen and husband John Dee of Greencastle; and grandchildren Steven F. Nauck, Jeffery A. Nauck, Jessica Port, Jared Port, Parker Glore and mother Toni Suppa, Noelle Thompson and Caprice Thompson, all of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Glore of Spokane, Wash. and sisters Nancy Brown of Greencastle, Mary Jane Black of Greencastle and Betty Bloomer of Rockville.

He was cremated in California, and he was buried in the family plot at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle on July 15.

A private celebration of George's life will be held at a later date.
