2 sides of the same drive

Opposite ends of Greencastle's Percy Julian Drive offer quite a contrast Tuesday afternoon. Looking north, from just south of its intersection with Washington Street, the view is smooth new concrete, while the view to the south, looking toward Veterans Memorial Highway, shows there is much work to be done in preparing for the rest of the concrete to be poured. With school resuming next Tuesday, city officials are "still hopeful" the concrete can be poured and properly cured in time for school buses and other traffic to drive on it by then, Mayor Sue Murray said at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Only time will tell, of course, and city officials continue to work with Greencastle schools about possible options if the concrete work is not done in time. [Order this photo]

Considering they have not had any rain days, they should be done by now.

They should have been working from sun up to sun down including weekends to get it finished before the start of school! There have been several days in which absolutely no one has worked on the mess!

I thought when they started and said they would be done before school started that they wouldn't make it. I think I will be right. It's going to be a mess for the school busses, etc.

I wonder if schools will be delayed in starting if they aren't finished with this mess, although it did look better today.

Thanks for the sign warning us about the repair anyways, city council. Bids in too late? Actual groundwork started much later than expected.

What?! They probably won't be done in the time frame promised for a road project?! I'm SO shocked...not.

Oh, to live life through the rose colored glasses of local government, rather than reality.
