Cougars comes up short to Bruins

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam eighth grade football team lost to Tri-West 24-14 Tuesday.

Tri-West dominated the first half of play and led the Cougars 16-0 at the half. North Putnam battled back in the second half against a big and talented Bruins.

North Putnam scored touchdowns when Bradley Hodges and Jimmy Rutter hooked up for a 20-yard score. Hodges also ran for a five-yard touchdown.

The Cougars were within striking distance, trailing 16-14 with 50 seconds remaining in the contest. However, on the ensuing onside kick, the Bruins covered the ball and scored, who in turn scored on a 50-yard run to put the game out of reach.

Cameron Boller, Cameron McPhearson and Kyler Jeter provided the Cougars with some solid defensive plays. The game was interrupted by an hour and a half lightning delay.
