Buzz Bomb bucks

James Ensley, center, representing the Putnam County Bar Association, presents a donation to the J. Frank Durham Buzz Bomb Endowment Fund in memory of J. Frank Durham. The donation is presented to the four children of J. Frank Durham at the base of the Buzz Bomb war memorial recently. From left are: Andrew H. Durham, Stephanie Durham, Ensley, Madeleine (Durham) Thomas and George B. Durham. Local members donating to the continuing maintenance fund are Timothy Bookwalter, Delbert Brewer, Ensley, Darrell Felling, Zachary Kester, Sharon Hammond, Matthew Headley, James Houck, Diana LaViolette, Robert Perry, Karen Temple, James Young and John Zeiner. The Buzz Bomb, located on the southwest corner of the Putnam County Courthouse lawn, is dedicated to the 73 Putnam County World War II veterans who were killed in action. J. Frank Durham led the effort to relocate the Buzz Bomb and create the memorial in 1948. Contributions to the endowment are welcome and should be made payable to the Putnam County Community Foundation with "Durham Buzz Bomb Endowment" in the memo, and mailed to 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, IN 46135.
