The annual local event urges residents to be friends to strangers and acquaintances alike by picking up a free dozen roses at any of the sponsor locations, keeping one and passing out the rest to 11 other people. Representing the sponsors are (standing, from left) Ken Heeke, First National Bank; Sharon Bone, Ivy Tech; Robin Snider, Bittles and Hurt and Hopkins-Rector funeral homes; Therese Cunningham, State Farm Insurance; Natalie Pritchard, First National Bank; Jenny Sullivan, Eitel's Flowers and Gifts; Trei Barnett, Asbury Towers, and Kasey Neeley, Teachers Credit Union. Sponsors not pictured are Bank of America Home Loans and Cinergy Metronet. Overall, 4,000 roses will be given away Wednesday, beginning at 8 a.m. at all sponsor locations. [Order this photo]
