Judith McNeff Hammerberg

Judith McNeff Hammerberg, 64, Moline, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at her residence.

Judy was born March 12, 1947 in Greencastle, the daughter of James and Elsie McNeff.

She married Richard G. "Rick" Hammerberg on July 24, 1994 in Greencastle, and he preceded her in death May 26, 2007.

Judy was "Mom" to many. She often opened her heart and her home to those who needed a warm bed or a shoulder to cry on. She loved pets, especially her dog Zeus.

Judy enjoyed bird watching and nature, including two chipmunks that inhabited her yard. She liked to watch "Law and Order" and the "Stargate" series. Her favorite movie was "The Abyss."

Survivors include a son, Bill Kiger (Tracy Purdy), East Moline, Ill.; a daughter, Jamie Kiger (Nate Davie), East Moline; grandsons Carter and Jonathon Lee; a sister, LaDonna (Marvin) Kelly; and a brother, Ronald McNeff.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at First Christian Church, Greencastle.
