TERRE HAUTE -- Indiana State University will host its annual Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The event is an opportunity for ISU students to show their appreciation for the important role that families play in their education and their lives. It's also an opportunity for families to see their student's home away from home.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m., there will be a variety of activities for siblings in Hulman Memorial Student Union, hosted by the Bayh College of Education, Scott College of Business, and the School of Music.

Children ages 4-11 can explore musical instruments during a 20-minute program, participate in story time with Sycamore Sam, crafts and cookie decorating. Students ages 9-12 can learn about money with Networks Financial Institute.

An array of recreational activities will be available to younger siblings at Wolf Field, led by students from the College of Nursing, Health and Humans Services.

Parents and family members will be able to visit with representatives from a variety of campus departments and programs between 10:30 a.m. and noon.

The University Art Gallery, located in the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. so families can view "Faith, Fear and Failure: Selections from ISU's WPA Arts Collection."

Campus tours, led by the Sycamore Ambassadors, will be conducted every 45 minutes 9-11 a.m. Campus areas such as Student Academic Services, University Honors Program and the Cunningham Memorial Library will have open houses from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Barnes & Noble ISU bookstore, located at Fourth and Cherry streets, will have an early bird breakfast from 8-9:30 a.m. and host a family happy hour from 5-6 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. there will be a Favorite Recipe Brunch in Sycamore Dining Hall, open to all parents and families of both residential and commuter students. After brunch will be Sycamore Bingo from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Hulman Memorial Student Union, Dede I.

The fun isn't confined to campus. Families are invited to come to Memorial Stadium to cheer on the Sycamores as they take on Youngstown State at 2:05 p.m.

Festivities kick off with a pre-game family reception, hosted by the ISU Career Center 1-2 p.m. Families can purchase reception and game tickets in Student Union to take advantage of a special group rate.

For Family Day registrants, individual tickets for the football game will be available beginning at 9 a.m. at a cost of $4 (kids age 5 and under are admitted free). Tickets at the gate will be $8 for adults and $4 for youth ages 6-18. Current ISU students can attend at no cost by showing their Sycamore ID card.

A complete schedule of Family Day activities and online registration can be found at www.indstate.edu/parents. Families can also register by calling Union Board and Family Services at 812-237-3830.
