Weatherford sets new course record, Tiger Cubs place second
VINCENNES -- The Greencastle girls' cross country team hit the road to compete at the South Knox Invite Saturday. The Tiger Cubs finished second as a team, finishing behind state ranked Evansville Memorial.
GHS head coach Garry Anderson said it was a chance to race against team the Tiger Cubs wouldn't normally have a chance to see. He said the course was a mix of hills, gravel paths, asphalt and grass.
Colleen Weatherford won the individual title and set a new course in the process. She posted a time of 19:18, eight second better than second place finisher Maria Mehringer from Evansville Memorial.
Emily Gill finished 17th overall with a time of 21:47, with Kayla Cash placing 21st with a time of 22:02. Megan Haynes finished 35th with a time of 22:58, while Paige Pickens was 39th with a time of 23:13 and Alex Stoffregen 48th with a time of 23:30.
