City Police

One minor traffic accident was investigated on the courthouse square Thursday evening by Greencastle City Police.

The mishap occurred at the corner of Jackson and Washington streets as Scott Greek, 48, Rockville, attempted to turn left in a 2008 Freightliner semi and struck a 2010 Toyota, driven by Sally Coffman, 55, Greencastle.

Coffman was stopped on Washington Street, facing west, when her vehicle was struck by the rear portion of the semi's trailer. The semi is owned by Ryder Truck Rental Inc., Fort Wayne.

Officer Darrel Bunten estimated total damage at $750-$1,000 in the 5:40 p.m. mishap. Bunten was assisted at the scene by Officer Jeff Modlin.

Two traffic citations were issued earlier this week by GPD Officer Albert Epple.

-- At 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Eric Chambon, 18, Greencastle, was ticketed on Indianapolis Road for having no registration plate on his vehicle.

-- At 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, Henry Stitzle Jr., 29, Harmony, was stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue for having an expired license plate.

City Fire

* On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 5:52 p.m., the Greencastle Fire Department was dispatched to an alarm at Humbert Hall, 208 E. Olive St., but was disregarded en route at 5:56 p.m.

At 9:35 p.m., GFD responded to a medical assist at 1121 Avenue B. Cleared 10:06 p.m.

At 11:13 p.m., personnel performed a lift assist at 805 Crescent Drive Cleared 11:27 p.m.
