Residents of Greencastle's Third Ward are invited to attend the annual ward meeting scheduled for 6:30 pm. Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Greencastle Middle School.
Mayor Sue Murray and Third Ward City Councilor Jinsie Bingham will listen to constituents share their suggestions for city participation in various community needs.
The Third Ward covers an area south of Washington Street and Indianapolis Road and north of Hanna Street and State Road 240, stretching all the way east to County Road 250. The west boundary is the east side of Locust Street.
The Third Ward encompasses the eastern part of the DePauw campus, the Old Eastern Enlargement, Commercial Place, the Mill Pond neighborhood and Ivy Tech Community College, along with the Walmart Distribution Center and Walmart Store as well as Big Walnut Sports Park.
The ward is a large area with a diverse population. The newly completed Percy Julian Drive project is the latest major improvement in the neighborhood.
A Neighborhood Crime Watch Program will be discussed by Greencastle Police Chief Tom Sutherlin. Residents may have questions about street lighting, green spaces, parking issues or unkempt property.
Although the meeting is mainly a forum for Third Ward residents, all citizens are welcome to attend.
