Vona 'Nancy' A. Allen

Vona "Nancy" A. (Foster) Allen, 78, of Williamsport, died at 10:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis.

Nancy was born on April 13, 1933 in Attica. She was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Vera (Dunklebarger) Foster.

She grew up in Attica and graduated from Attica High School in 1950. She had lived in Greencastle for 16 years before moving to Covington in 1999 and then to Williamsport in 2003.

Nancy married James R. Allen in Greencastle on Oct. 21, 1983. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Nancy had worked as a nursing assistant for Dr. B. Gastineau in Greencastle and Bainbridge before retiring in 1998 to care for her husband.

She enjoyed working with flowers and her grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Michael (wife Shozet) Stump of Covington, Gregory Stump of LaGrange, George Pat (wife Nancy) Stump of Williamsport and Coyle Lewsader of Danville; her companion, Jim Ratcliff of Williamsport; a sister, Martha (husband Virgil) Meyer of Florida; a brother, Wayne (wife Janet) Foster of Attica; five grandchildren, Emily, Laura, David, Sarah and Rachel and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Eli.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Max Foster, and a sister, Harriett Allen.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Graveside services will be conducted at Brick Chapel Cemetery, north of Greencastle, at 11 a.m. Wednesday
