Expansion of the aircraft apron at the Putnam County Airport will nearly double in size thanks to a Federal Aviation Administration grant received by the local facility. The airport received more than $750,000 in discretionary funding from the FAA to enlarge the area with both concrete and asphalt surfaces. The expansion will allow the airport more room to accommodate larger planes on the apron, which could be especially important if planes are diverted from larger airports. Wabash Valley Asphalt LLC, is the general contractor for this project. Frank C. Feutz Co., Chrisman, Ill., fresh from completing the Percy Julian Drive project for the City of Greencastle, is the subcontractor on the airport project.
