Steven W. Moore, 61, of Plainfield, passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
He was born on April 21, 1950 in Greencastle to Wayne Moore and Delilah J. Overshiner Moore.
Steve was a graduate of Greencastle High School and served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Infantry during the Vietnam Era, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of New Hope Fellowship. He was certified as a Master Gardner.
Steve was employed by Guilford Township where he worked at Hummel Park in Plainfield for 24 years.
His mother preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Carol S. Marcum Moore; his father, Wayne Moore; three children, Angie Allen and husband Marcus, Shelly Deming and husband Brian, and David Moore and wife Angie; siblings, Janet Dickerson, Jessica Westgate and husband Eddie, Dale Moore and wife Kathy, Cathy Brown and husband Paul, Sandy Short and husband Kenny, and Ken Moore and wife Sam; and 12 grandchildren, Ariel Moore, Alexis Gibbens, Shai Miller, Samantha Gibbens, Amber Miller, Zach Gibbens, Sierra Miller, Harrisyn Allen, Kelsey Moore, Sydney Moore, Samuel Moore and Adelynn Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Donnie Watson officiating. Interment with honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the funeral home.
