Virginia Perkins Clodfelter

Virginia L. (Perkins) Clodfelter, 91, of Greencastle, formerly of Roachdale, died at Autumn Glen in Greencastle on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1919 in Greencastle to Fay and Edith Lane Thomas.

She was a member of Roachdale Presbyterian Church, DAR, Order of Eastern Star No. 247 in Roachdale, charter member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Philomath Club of Roachdale.

She married Cecil Perkins in Greencastle on Dec. 12, 1943, with whom she operated Perkins Funeral Home in Roachdale and Ladoga until 1979. He passed away Jan. 8, 1978.

She then married Lyle Clodfelter on May 19, 1983 in Roachdale, and he died on Feb. 9, 2004.

Survivors include daughter Nancy (Jack) Mendenhall of Roachdale; son Cecil B. (Patty) Perkins II of Greencastle; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother John (Jean) Thomas of Greencastle; stepson Gary Clodfelter of Russellville; two stepdaughters, Jo Ellen Clodfelter of Indianapolis and Mryna Clodfelter of Colorado; five stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded by her husbands, brother Robert (Geraldine) Thomas and two nieces, Jessie and Rachel Thomas.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at the Roachdale Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alan Small officiating. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale, from 2-6 p.m. Sunday. The Order of Eastern Star No. 247 will have a memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
