Sheriff's Department

* On Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 11:10 a.m. Billy G. Stokes, 83, Coatesville, was in the parking lot of McPherson's Market in Groveland in a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. A 2000 International 490 truck was parked in the middle of the lot, unloading Coca-Cola.

Stokes pulled around the Coke truck to get into a parking spot. When he returned to his vehicle he left the space without looking and backed into the truck

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

* On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 9:55 a.m. Edward L. Hamilton, 22, Greencastle, was stopped on U.S. 231 at Market Street in Cloverdale in a 2006 Toyota Prius. Donald R. Cummings, 69, Bloomington, was approaching the stoplight in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer and could not stop in time to avoid rear-ending Hamilton.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

County Jail

On Thursday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 p.m. Jessica Lynn Foster, 28, Greenfield, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, operating while intoxicated, possession of paraphernalia and driving while suspended.

City Police

One property-damage accident was investigated Thursday afternoon by Greencastle City Police officers.

At 1:49 p.m., Jennifer Hassler, 32, Greencastle, was eastbound on Indianapolis Road near Kentwood Drive, driving a 2007 Pontiac.

She said she was driving less than the speed limit, going approximately 25 mph, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity, driven by Stephan Ricketts, 64, Poland.

Hassler said she was driving slower than normal due to the wet and windy weather conditions.

Ricketts told Officer Darrel Bunten that he did not realize the Hassler car was slowing and could not avoid a collision as he crested a hill.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Officer Bunten was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Chris Jones.

City Fire

On Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2:16 p.m. the Greencastle Fire Department responded to an alarm due to an oven fire at 225 Bloomington St. Cleared 2:25 p.m.
