Helen Adeline Boswell Gowin Pickel

Helen Adeline Boswell Gowin Pickel, daughter of Artie O. (Doc) and Minnie Ethel Gorham Boswell, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 23, 2011 at her residence in Carpentersville.

She was born May 24, 1921 at Greencastle. She was 90 years old.

She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle in Crawfordsville.

She was an avid reader, loved to fish, do quilting and gardening.

She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, spending time outdoors, animals and hunting.

She was married to Edgar M. Gowin in 1936 and later married Aaron Gayle Pickel on April 6, 1950. They both preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons Larry (Clara) Gowin of Spencer, David (Kathy) Pickel of Whitestown, John Pickel of Winston-Salem, N.C.; daughters Mable Clemens of Jamestown, Shirlee Lane of Indianapolis, Lisa Ethel Ward of Danville, and Deborah Pickel of Westfield; son--in-law David Lumpkin of Advance, 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers. Henry Boswell of Noblesville, and Bob Boswell of Spencer; a sister, Annabelle Jones in California.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, children Mary Etta Gowin, Edgar M. Gown Jr., and Sandra Faye (Pickel) Lumpkin and sisters Mary Roe, Margurite Sargent and Pauline Morrison.

Funeral services will be conducted at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, at 1 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 26. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

David Lumpkin will officiate. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.
