County Jail

Three people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Thursday, Oct. 27 at 10:46 a.m. Richard Joseph Guerrico, 28, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for contempt of court.

At 6:55 p.m. Bill Frank Burr Jr., 34, Quincy, was booked for failure to appear.

At 8:22 p.m. Gordon Brent Sims, 53, Greencastle, was arrested for public intoxication and theft.

City Police

A property-damage accident Wednesday afternoon resulted in a traffic citation for one of the drivers, Greencastle City Police reported.

The mishap occurred at 4:40 p.m. as Brittany Lumpkin, 24, Greencastle, was driving a 2002 Plymouth Voyager on Zinc Mill Road, nearing a curve at South Street.

Meanwhile, a 2003 Dodge Durango, driven by Joseph Pilkin, 17, Greencastle, was approaching the curve from the east and crossed in front of the Lumpkin vehicle in an attempt to turn left onto South Street, Officer Ed Wilson reported.

The resulting collision caused an estimated $5,000-$10,000 damage.

Lumpkin was ticketed for having no insurance.

Officer Wilson was assisted at the scene by GPD Officer Darrel Bunten and Putnam County Sheriff's Department Deputy Donnie Pettit.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of runs in recent days.

* On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 1:32 p.m. they were dispatched to a cornfield fire on County Road 100 East, two miles north of U.S. 36. Cleared 2:46 p.m.

At 2:59 p.m. GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at 626 E. Seminary St. Cleared 3:14 p.m.

At 4:24 p.m. personnel responded to a medical assist at 1509 U.S. 231 North. Cleared 4:56 p.m.

At 4:57 p.m. GFD responded to an auto accident at Zinc Mill Road and South Street, performing cleanup. Cleared 5:23 p.m.

At 8:55 p.m. GFD was dispatched to a smoke detector malfunction at 1117 Canterbury Drive. Cleared 9:11 p.m.

* On Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6:18 a.m. personnel performed a medical assist at 1811 E. Rangeline Rd. Cleared 7:03 a.m.

At 11:21 a.m. GFD responded to an alarm at 106 S. Spring St. No fire was found. Cleared 11:31 a.m.

At 3:42 p.m. crews were dispatched to a smoke scare on Wood Street behind the Greencastle Aquatic Center. The smoke was caused by a car fire, but the blaze was out when personnel arrived. Cleared 4:05 p.m.

At 6:04 p.m. GFD was called to 412 S. Indiana St. but was disregarded at 6:07 p.m.

* On Friday, Oct. 28 GFD assisted Cloverdale Township with a structure fire at Los Tres Caminos restaurant at 1002 N. Main St., Cloverdale. Cleared 7:44 a.m.
