Wednesday, November 2, 2011

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Putnam County Hospital will be hosting prostate screens for the men of Putnam and surrounding counties.

The screen is an annual event that is sponsored by Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center.

"Early detection is the key," Lou Fordice, LPN, Cancer Center, said. "We offer screenings to encourage more men to take an interest in their health and to protect themselves from cancer."

The physician exam is at no charge. A $10 laboratory fee will be collected for the PSA blood test.

The screen will be conducted by appointment only. To schedule a screen, persons may contact the Cancer Center at 655-2581.

The screens will take place from 9 a.m. to noon with Dr. Pravin Patel and Dr. Robert Nelson and 5-7 p.m. with Dr. Brian Downen in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic on the first floor of the hospital.
