Cougars slip to 0-2 with close loss to Warriors

ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam girls' basketball team dropped a close one to Danville Thursday 50-49.

The Cougars put together an impressive 23-point fourth quarter, but the Warriors were able to hang on for the win. Kensy Asbell led the way for North Putnam with 13 points, followed by Morgan Robinson with 10 and LeeAnn Davis with eight.

Maggie Pinney scored seven, while Madi Asbell and Bethany Wiatt chipped in five points each. Sam Lucas added one point in the loss.

Head coach Jim Brothers said the difference came down to the Cougars' performance at the line. North Putnam was 16-of-35 from the free throw line in the game.
