Helen M. Gardner

Helen M. Gardner, 87, Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1924 in Greencastle and was the daughter of the late John D. and Lydia (Elkins) Allee.

She was married to Walter Warren Gardner on July 1, 1944 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1997.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Perales and husband Theodore, Greencastle, Mary Ooley, California, Steven Gardner and wife Nan, Greencastle, Ted Gardner and wife Peggy, Greencastle, Danny Gardner and wife Diane, Greencastle, James Gardner and wife Pam, Danville, Ben Gardner and wife Tammie, Reelsville, and David Gardner and wife Patty, Greencastle, her brothers, Jack Allee, Greencastle, and Frank Allee, Cloverdale, her half-brother, Alvin Grimes, 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Allee, Robert Allee, Walter Allee and John Allee, her granddaughter, Connie Calhoun, and her half-brothers, Clarence Grimes, James Grimes and Donald Grimes.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Deer Creek Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
