Sanders Home on Tour

Friday, November 18, 2011

Kathy Sanders' home, 111 Spring St., Unit 106, is one of five houses on the 29th annual Delta Theta Tau Holiday Home Tour set for Saturday, Nov. 19 from 1-5 p.m. The former Greencastle High/Junior High/Middle School building, built in 1918 and closed in the 1980s, was developed in the 1990s into condominiums for seniors. Sanders' spacious two-bedroom unit on the north side of the building was formerly the high school typing classroom and a junior high English classroom. Her holiday decorations collected over the years include Santas, snowmen, a variety of crèches and several trees. Kathryn will display examples of her own counted cross-stitching, including Christmas stockings, tree ornaments, a picture of a Nordic angel (in honor of her Norwegian heritage), and nine faces of Santas, called "Santa is the Spirit of Christmas." Admission to the home tour is $8 per person. Tickets are available at Eitel's Flowers, Treasures on the Square, Ambler-Hill Florists, Almost Home and Curves.
