Florence J. Eveland, 82 of Knightsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

She was born Nov. 14, 1929 in Putnam County, the daughter of Robert Parrish Sr. and Mildred Alvord Parrish.

On March 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marion M. "Sarge" Eveland. Together they owned and operated "Sarge's Military Supplies."

She also worked in years past as a nurse's aide at Clay County Hospital and other area hospitals.

She was an active and devoted member of the Community Missionary Church. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir among other things.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Parrish and William Parrish; and a great-grandson, Tyler Eveland.

Survivors include her husband, Marion "Sarge" Eveland; daughter Sandra Jenkins and husband James of Carbon; son Marion M. Eveland III, "Butch" and "Little Sarge" and wife Karen of Vincennes; three grandchildren, Brock Eveland, Brittany Eveland (Scott Reed), and Shawn Eveland (Tara); great-grandchildren Isaiah Eveland, Jordan Eveland, Keaton Eveland and Landon Eveland and Ella Reed; sister Retta O'Neal of Greencastle; sisters-in-law Navella Parrish of Greencastle, Geneva Parrish of Indianapolis and Eve Smith of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at French Funeral Home, Brazil, with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Haiti Pop Can Project or to the Clay County Humane Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
