The T.A. Ride donates to PCYDC

Friday, December 9, 2011
After tragedy struck in June 2010, the organizers of the Tyler Adams Benefit Ride decided not only to memorialize Tyler, but to make a positive impact in the community. They recently made a $500 donation to the Putnam County Youth Development Commission. Present for the donation were, from left, Tyler's mother Debbie Adams, PCYDC director Linda Merkel and ride organizers Jeff York and Angela Parkerson.

Tyler James Adams's unexpected passing on June 12, 2010 changed the lives and world of his family and friends.

In Tyler's memory, the T.A. Benefit Ride was started to help with funeral costs. Moving forward, the ride will benefit local organizations.

This year's benefit ride was able to raise $500 to donate to the Putnam County Youth Development Commission. PCYDC works had to give children who are going down the wrong path a second chance.

The ride also assisted the family in purchasing a memorial for Tyler. With the weather changing fast, the ride's organizers are hoping to have the memorial set in the spring of 2012.

Next year's ride is set for July 28 and will benefit the Montgomery County Chapter of Bereaved Parents. The founders of the chapter started it after losing a son so they could help others with the pain of losing a child.

The chapter has meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. For more information, visit www.bpmontgomery.bpchapter.org.

The T.A. Ride is going to continue to work with Putnam County Youth Development as well.

Any donations are welcome and can be made out "In Memory of Tyler Adams" at Old National Bank.

The organizers wish to thank all sponsors and everyone who helpd out with this year's ride.
