A familiar face will be smiling from the third-base coaching box on the Greencastle softball diamond this spring.
Dave Keller, who served as GHS coach in 2007 and 2008, was re-hired at Wednesday's meeting of the Greencastle School Board.
"I want the program to get back to where we left it and I'm very excited to have this challenge," Keller said. "It's a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm looking forward to it."
In Keller's previous stint as head coach, the Lady Tiger Cubs were 19-28, but saw a marked improvement from year one to year two. They were 5-19 in 2007, but surged to a 14-9 record in 2008.
At the time of his resignation in 2008, Keller wanted to spend more time with his young daughter. As he returns to the program, she is a seventh grader, just two years away from playing at the high school level.
Having coached many of the girls currently in middle school during travel ball, Keller has some insight about the talent GHS can expect in the near future.
"We've got a lot of talent to look forward to and I've been a part of that," he said.
