The GC Galleria will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The Galleria will move to a new location with a new name, said manager Sue Brucks.

Local patrons of the arts can count on just a few fingers the number of days left to shop for affordable, one-of-a-kind works by local artists.

The GC Galleria will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 in order to move to a new location and assume a new name, according to artist and manager Sue Brucks.

Until then, hundreds of works including paintings, jewelry, ceramics, baskets, photos, note cards and creations of fabric, wood, gourds and more will be on display at 16 S. Jackson St. Prices for these unique items range from under $5 to more than $300.

The GC Galleria will reopen Feb. 1 as Studio B at 302 E. Washington St., next to the Blue Door Cafe. The current Galleria phone number is 301-4669. After Dec. 28, the contact number will be 721-3001.

Along with a new name and location, Studio B plans to host additional artists.

Two years ago a group of Putnam County artists formed a cooperative and opened the Galleria in downtown Greencastle between the Chamber of Commerce office and the Partnership Center.

Members include noted area artists Brucks, Andrew Cooper, Lisa Cooper, Barbara Fuson, Marla Helton, Lance Myers, Jesse Scott, Barbara Fields Timm, Lynne Tweedie and Heidi Warren.
