Mary Jane Nichols, 81, of Fillmore passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1930 neaer Stilesville at the historic Rising Hall home on U.S. 40, to Cecil L. Nichols and Kathleen Oursler Nichols.

Mary Jane was a 1947 graduate of Fillmore High School and attended business college in Indianapolis.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where in her youth she was a leader of the Baptist Youth Fellowship Association.

Mary Jane had also been a member of the Fillmore Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She had been employed with Daseke and Tucker Insurance Groups in Indianapolis most of her career. Upon retirement, she lived at her parents' farm home in Fillmore before moving to The Waters of Greencastle.

Her parents, and a sister, Betty Josephine Nichols preceded her in death.

Surviving are a sister, Shirley Ann Ruark of Fillmore; nephews, Rodney Dale Ruark and wife Donna of Pataskala, Ohio, Donald Ray Ruark and wife Diana of Pittsboro; two nieces, Diana Kay Ruark Seals and husband Carl of Shelbyville and Debra Ruark Catron and husband Timothy of West Lafayette; and 15 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Alan Small officiating. Interment will follow at Stilesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Mary Jane loved to sing church hymns and was an avid bowler and had served on several leagues while living in Indianapolis.
