Tiger Cubs cruise to win over Sparkplugs

SPEEDWAY -- The Greencastle girls' basketball team picked up its sixth straight win after defeating Speedway 62-49 Friday.

The Tiger Cubs got a big scoring effort from Taylor Pruitt, who scored 25 points to lead the team. Hannah Wainman scored 15, but it was defense on JoJo Daghe that her head coach talked about following the win.

"Taylor Pruitt obviously led us tonight. Hannah did an outstanding job of holding down Speedway's best player, who was averaging 25 point. Hannah held her to 18 points," GHS head coach Bradley Key said.

Key thought his team rebounded well on the night.

In addition to Pruitt's 25 and Wainman's 15, Alex Basile contributed 11 points. Callan Taylor chipped in eight points, while Rayliegh Amis scored two points and Jessi Covert one point.

"It was kind of a battle. It was a good team win for us. I felt like the girls played hard and typically we do. It's kind of our thing. Another good win," Key said.

The Tiger Cub are back in action today against Brown County. The junior varsity gets things going at noon at McAnally Center.
