Positive behavior results in party choices at Cloverdale

Thursday, January 12, 2012

CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Elementary School has been host to three parties this past year celebrating positive behavior choices made at school.

As part of the school's positive behavior plan, students earn SCORE tickets for positive behavior choices, and have the opportunity to save them and turn them in for admission to one of the parties.

The parties have different themes and snacks and door prizes are given away.

The first party held was a SCORE s'more party. Students attending this party got to make s'mores at a campfire in the school's nature park. In October, a dance party was hosted with popcorn and pop.

The final party of the semester was a December holiday party that included sugar cookie decorating and cotton candy.

Upcoming parties include a Blizzard Party, a Here Comes Summer Fun Party and a spring trip to Indianapolis to attend an Indians' baseball game.

Attendance at the parties has been about 100 or more students each. Prizes given away have included gift cards, beanie babies, backpacks, school supply kits, stuffed animals, dollar coins and Wii time.

These parities would not be possible without the support from area businesses. Businesses that have donated money or prizes this year include Endeavor Communications, First National Bank, Cloverdale Drugs, Putnam Plastics, Ottawa Instant Homes and Headley Hardware.

Anyone or business interested in donating money or door prizes may do so by contacting Brad Sandy at Cloverdale Elementary School.
