Rev. Frank Bunn Sr., 89, rural North Salem, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, 2012 at Hendricks Regional Health.

He was born Jan. 14, 1923 in Olney, Ill., the son of Frank Solomon and Nellie Fisher Bunn.

He was the pastor for the past 23 years at New Maysville Community Church and had previously been a pastor at several area churches.

In the 1960s he provided inspirational messages on the telephone through Dial-a-Devotion and Hello My Friend. He started in the ministry as a Gideon minister.

He enjoyed his garden, birds, flowers and mowing.

He served in the Merchant Marine for three years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Rooker Bunn; two daughters, Debra Bunn, New Hampshire, and Beth Ann Bunn, Bainbridge; a daughter-in-law Donna Bunn; grandchildren Ben Bunn, Michael Joe Bunn, Michael Andrew Rogers and Ginger (Larry) Claycomb; step-grandson, Craige Phipps; great-grandson, Tristan Claycomb; and stepsister, Clella Rottinghaus, Olney, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Frank Bunn Jr.; a granddaughter, Mija Jo Bunn; and five sisters.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at New Maysville Community Church. Burial will be in New Maysville Cemetery.

Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville.
