Rotary club invites speech contestants

The Rotary Club of Greencastle is inviting students from Putnam County's four high schools to take part in the 2012 Rotary Speech Contest.

This year's speech topic is to contain, in part or in whole, some aspect of a local, national or international Rotary project or program such as "Polio Plus" or Rotary's food or water programs.

Each inspirational and persuasive speech should be 5-7 minutes in length.

The local event will be at noon Wednesday, Feb. 8 at The Inn at DePauw, during the club's weekly meeting. If the number of entries exceeds five, a pre-screening will be held.

Club event winners will be awarded $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third.

The winner of the club event will participate in the Rotary District 6560 Speech Contest on Saturday, Feb. 25. The location and time of the event are undetermined.

The district winners will be award $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third.
