2012 Dancing Stars

Dancing glory is within reach for a new group of stars from throughout the county. On Saturday the Putnam County Youth Development Commission, in partnership with Dance Workshop, DePauw University and other local sponsors, unveiled the cast for the fourth annual Dancing with the Putnam County Stars, set for Saturday, April 14 at the DePauw University Indoor Tennis and Track Center. Kneeling between program MCs Jana Brothers (left) and Beau Battin (right), the 2012 contestants include (from left) Greencastle Middle School Guidance Director Kathi Asbell, North Putnam High School Assistant Principal Jason Chew, Dixie Chopper Human Resources Director Carrie Thompson, S&W Feed Center co-owner Rick Woodall, Cloverdale Elementary teacher Regina Walton, Greencastle Physical Therapy owner Chet Clodfelter and Dominique Gibson of Teacher's Credit Union (with daughter Addison). Dancers not present Saturday include retired Putnam County Hospital nurse Sherri Cash, Steve Jones of Collins Evans Real Estate, farmer and businessman David Zeiner and Cottage Gardens owner Mark Timm. Other integral pieces of Dancing with the Putnam County Stars include (standing, from left) PCYDC Director and event co-organizer Linda Merkel, PCYDC board member Bobby Hopper, dance instructors Ashley Clute, Brad Sandy, Colleen Muir and Logan Kuhn, instructor and Dance Workshop owner Tara Gardner, instructor Jessyca South, Judge Denny Bridge (with daughter Carmen) and co-organizer Patti Harmless. The other judges for the contest are Diana LaViolette and Matt Headley. Doors are set to open for the event at 5:45 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:15 and the dancing to commence at 8 p.m. Premium table seating is currently on sale for $800 per table. Sponsorships are also available. Call the PCYDC office at 653-9342 for more information. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, Feb. 17.
