A 37-year-old Putnam County man has been arrested on multiple felony sexual allegations involving a minor female.

Indiana State Police detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division at the Putnamville Post Thursday evening arrested David L. Williams of Coatesville.

Arrested at the Putnamville Post and incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail, Williams is being held on preliminary charges of child molestation, a Class A felony; rape, a Class B felony; and incest, a Class B felony.

More charges are possible as the investigation continues, State Police spokesman Sgt. Joe Watts reported Thursday night.

The investigation began on Wednesday when the victim's mother contacted the Putnam County Child Protective Services and made child molestation accusations against Williams.

Further investigation led authorities to believe that on multiple occasions over the last three years, Williams has engaged in various sex acts with an eight-year-old female family member at his rural Coatesville home.

State police investigators served a search warrant at the rural Coatesville residence Thursday afternoon. Several items of evidence believed related to the alleged criminal activity were reportedly seized.

The case is being investigated by ISP Det. Deanna Jones.

Assisting are ISP Det. Sgts. Troy Stanton, Sam Stearley, Jim Dungan, and Chris Carter, ISP Crime Scene Investigators Sgts. Kris Fitzgerald and Jim Cody, Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Putnam County Prosecutor's Office and the Putnam County Department of Child Protective Services.

  • I say just turn him loose into the population. We all know what he looks like now. Street justice can be a good thing. It would save all of us non-sick people a lot of hard earned monies.

  • The problem with street justice is that it would be far too easy to attack people who are simply accused of a crime. The justice system exists so that people can be judge by a fair a jury of their peers based off of the evidence against them, not a group of mad people who's only evidence is they heard it happened.

  • Hoosierloser, I agree with you. After he has had his day in court if in fact he did do it, it should be game on. Just think of the innocent victims that continue to have thier lives destroyed by fine up standing individuals like this gem. I wish I had an all knowing sense to be able to prevent these tragedies. The first duty of the strong is to protect the weak...

  • I HOPE THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM PUTS THIS SICK PIECE OF TRASH AWAY FOR A LONG TIME. WHAT HE HAS DONE WILL EFFECT THE VICTIM FOREVER. THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO GET TOUGHER ON THESE CRIMINALS AND MAKE THEM SERVE THEIR ENTIRE SENTENCE.

  • These crimes are monstrous. However, I feel that the victim is re-victimized by such details being printed. This is a "small town" area and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who the victim is. Now she has no privacy. There is a fine line between NEWS and offering sensational facts that hurt the victim of crimes further. Further more, we are founded on innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Shall we wait for the mob slaying until after we are sure?

  • And for those of you who say innocent until proven guilty the only innocent person in a molestation is the child and children are usually so innocent that they don't know what any of the stuff that has happened to them is and for the police to arrest one of these perverts they have to have a "smoking gun" in my opinion if the child says they have been touched or raped or any of that the perv is guilty and shouldn't have the right to. Trial because all trial does is hurt the child more I know from my own personal experience......

  • In my humble opinion cases like these should be death penalty eligible. At the least mandatory castration. But that's not going to happen. I can assure you that the best punishment that he can be given is at the hands of other inmates already in our prisons. I have worked in corrections nearly 2 decades and they torture, maim, harrass, and even kill child molesters. It is constant abuse for them a never ending hell. Assuming he's guilty of course.

  • Don't they put these people in isolation in prison?

  • People need to learn to turn the caps lock key OFF! Yes, they would put him in isolation.

  • You know, this person is innocent until proven guilty. You all should hold your negative comments until he has been PROVEN guilty. Then we should castrate him.

  • WHEN he's proven guilty, they still couldn't release him into the public OR general population in prison .. he will have way more rights than the child he victimized.

That's the #2 sad part about this equation. #1, of course, is the poor child(ren). It's been proven that children who are molested/raped so young tend to spend time around other men who abuse them in some way.

I hope this child gets the counseling she deserves that will help her live a life as close to normal as she can.
