CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Community Dollars for Scholars organization has been given an opportunity to raise money for its fund.

Its goal is to build the fund with a Phone-a-Thon scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 1-4 p.m.

Students from Cloverdale High School, under the supervision of Dollars for Scholars board members and the school administration, will be calling parents of current students and of graduates as well as local residents.

Thanks to matching monies by a local donor and by the Putnam County Community Foundation, any donations raised by the students will be matched. So a donation of $25 by a donor becomes a $75 credit to the Dollars for Scholars.

The goal for the Phone-a-Thon is to raise $15,000.

If you wish to receive a call or make a donation, send an e-mail to CloverdaleDollarsforScholars@gmail.com with your name and phone number, or call (765) 795-5711 ext 1151 and leave a message with your name and phone number.

Cloverdale Community Dollars for Scholars is a 501(c)3 organization, so your donation will be tax-deductible.

Current Dollars for Scholars board members are Matt Langdon, Jo Puckett, Janet Branneman, Katrina Lewis, Bob Steele, Mark McCammon, Roger Shrum, Gary Neese, Jane Huge and Vivian Whitaker. Student representatives are Sydney Shrum and Aaron Whitlock.

Cloverdale Community Dollars for Scholars is a volunteer group established in 1994 with a $1,000 donation and a goal to raise scholarship money for Cloverdale High School graduates.

Any Cloverdale senior who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or technical school is eligible to apply.

Cloverdale Community Dollars for Scholars is an all-volunteer organization that operates with no paid staff. It is a chapter of the Indiana Dollars for Scholars and the national organization Scholarship America, organizations that provide students and parents with opportunities for additional scholarship monies from participating colleges and universities.
