North Putnam student in hospital following serious accident

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

ROACHDALE -- A North Putnam High School junior was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, following a Monday evening automobile accident.

Morgan Robinson of Roachdale, was injured in a collision with a tree shortly after 7 p.m. Monday. A representative of St. Vincent 86th Street could not advise Robinson's condition on Tuesday afternoon, but confirmed the 17-year-old was a patient of the hospital.

At 7:07 p.m., the youth was westbound on County Road 900 North in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE1. A deer ran into her path, so she swerved to miss the animal, overcorrected and lost control.

The car left the road, striking a phone box and a tree.

When responders arrived, Robinson said she could not feel her legs. St. Vincent's emergency helicopter service StatFlight was dispatched to the scene, transporting Robinson to the hospital.

Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Phillip Troyer, PMH Ambulance Service and the Roachdale Fire Department responded to the accident.

  • My prayers are with Morgan and the family. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

As for NPHS...shame on you! Nothing was said about this at the Boys basketball game last night. Everyone in the stands waited for an update, a moment of silence, mention of donations or something to be said on what we all could do to help the family. This community needs to come together for the Robinson family just as they have for the Christy's and the Greenlee's. I do not personally know Morgan or her family but I do know they need our help! Even if it's something as simple as taking the family some meals, let's do it!

  • I know a benefit is being planned, but I don't have any details. All four county schools have been contacted to help promote the event.
