City Police

Two women were arrested on drug-related charges early Sunday, Greencastle City Police reported.

At 3:31 a.m. Sunday, Vanessa Coy, 37, Plainfield, and Eva Mason, 28, Greencastle, were stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue at Meadow Drive by Officer Matt Huffman.

Coy was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, facing charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Coy was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

Mason was lodged in the jail, facing charges of possession of a syringe, false reporting or informing and a petition to revoke probation.

Four other recent arrests were reported by city officers.

-- At 8:54 p.m. Monday, Randy Runnells, 47, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Huffman on the McDonald's parking lot for battery and intimidation. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Demetrios Pitchford, 25, Chicago Heights, Ill., was arrested at Marvin's on a warrant by Capt. Charles Inman. Pitchford was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 1:55 p.m. Saturday, Jason Hayman, 34, Fillmore, was arrested at Walmart on a warrant by Officer Darrel Bunten. Hayman was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 10:58 p.m. Friday, Delbert Boswell Jr., 38, Cloverdale, was arrested on the KFC parking lot on Bloomington Street by Reserve Officer Jerett Query for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Boswell, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, registered .11 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing (PBT).

In another alcohol-related case, two Greencastle residents are facing charges as minors in consumption of alcohol after being stopped by Capt. Inman at 1:18 a.m. Saturday on Seminary Street.

Elijah Isenhower, 20, registered .137 percent under PBT testing, while Courtney Mitchell, 18, Greencastle, registered .05 percent.

Two Plainfield drivers were involved in a property-damage accident Monday night on State Road 240 at Calbert Way.

Clyde RIgdon, 68, had pulled up to the stoplight at Calbert Way, waiting to exit Walmart when he turned right on red, pulling his 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche into the path of an eastbound 1993 Ford F-150 truck, driven by Lauren Cottongin, 24.

Officer Nick Eastham estimated damage in the 9:58 p.m. accident at $2,500-$5,000.

A hit-and-run accident on Bloomington Street was investigated by Sgt. Chris Jones at 5:10 p.m. Feb. 16.

Keith Adams, 40, Vancouver, B.C., was northbound on Bloomington Street, attempting to cross Veterans Highway in a 1991 Toyota Corollla, when his car collided with a southbound 1998 Pontiac, driven by Damon Rivers, 36, Greencastle. Rivers was turning left behind another vehicle as Adams approached.

Police said following the collision Rivers fled the scene and was later cited for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility.

Four recent citations were issued by Sgt. Jones.

-- At 4:02 p.m. Saturday, Bradley Leonard, 41, Greencastle, was ticketed on Washington Street for a seatbelt violation and an expired license plate.

-- At 3:25 p.m. Friday, Kerri Clark, 19, Greencastle, and Casey Massingale, 18, Greencastle, were both ticketed for seatbelt violations when Sgt. Jones stopped their vehicle on Indianapolis Road.

County Jail

A number of people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:52 p.m. Robert Eugene Tobin III, 31, Ladoga, was held at the jail for probation violation.

* On Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8 a.m. David Lee Walters, 18, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

* On Monday, Feb. 20 at 4:30 a.m. Juan Reyes Lopez, 37, Pomona, Calif., was housed at the jail for the sale of cocaine.

At 1:37 p.m. Mary Eillen Strange, 28, Plain, Mo., was booked in for theft.

Sheriff's Department

On Monday, Feb. 20 at 11:59 a.m. Franklin J. Wiram Jr., 57, Terre Haute, was backing up in a 2001 Ford Focus registered to National Drug Store, Brazil, on County Road 675 South. He said he backed into a 1995 Dodge Dakota driven by Caleb G. Bailey, 18, Reelsville.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to a number of recent dispatches.

* On Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2:17 p.m. GFD performed a medical assist at 1118 Avenue B. Cleared 2:36 p.m.

At 5:13 p.m. personnel assisted on a motor vehicle accident with injury at Bloomington Street and Veterans Memorial Highway. Cleared 5:30 p.m.

* On Friday, Feb. 17 at 11:47 a.m. crews investigated an alarm at 109 W. Hanna St. Cleared 11:55 a.m.

* On Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9:16 a.m. GFD investigated a gas smell at 1110 Avenue C. The smell was discovered to be originating from a grill. Cleared 9:29 a.m.

* On Monday, Feb. 20 at 6:48 a.m. personnel investigated a strong, pungent odor at 3025 W. CR 50 North. Responders believe the strong was a skunk, and the investigation was turned over to Madison Township Fire Department. Cleared 7:21 a.m.
