City Police

Greencastle City Police were called to Putnam County Hospital at 2:28 a.m. Wednesday on the report of an unruly person in the emergency room.

Joni M. Smith, 50, Coatesville, reportedly had caused a disturbance and allegedly scratched a doctor before being subdued by Officer Eric Vaughan.

Smith, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, is facing charges of battery causing bodily injury and disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, Officer Vaughan was called to 2 Poplar St. to investigate a complaint of the distinctive smell of marijuana coming from one of the apartments.

As a result of the 9:25 p.m. investigation, Andrew Hiatt, 30, Greencastle, is facing a charge of possession of marijuana under 30 grams.

Seven recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 2:34 a.m. Monday, Jeremy Rose, 19, Goshen, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 2:58 a.m. Monday, Alexandra Reed, 19, Evansville, was cited by Officer Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 2:49 a.m. Sunday, Clinton Ferguson, 30, Greencastle, was ticketed at Franklin and Vine streets by Reserve Officer Jeremiah Jackson for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Warren Coan, 23, Greencastle, was cited at Bloomington and Block streets by Officer Matt Huffman for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 7:25 p.m. Feb. 24, Laconda Schafer, 37, Coatesville, was cited on State Road 240 East by Capt. Charles Inman for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 7:05 p.m. Feb. 24, Anjelica Creamer, 30, Greencastle, was ticketed on Indianapolis Road by Sgt. Christopher Jones for having no operator's license when required.

-- At 1:35 p.m. Feb. 23, Ethan Sillery, 18, Greencastle, was cited by Sgt. Jones for a seatbelt violation on Shadowlawn Avenue.

County Jail

On Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11:10 a.m. Amanda Danielle Below, 28, Reelsville, was booked in the Putnam County Jail for theft.

Sheriff's Department

On Monday, Feb. 27 at 7:05 p.m. Bradley A. Kelsheimer, 43, Terre Haute, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe when he hit a deer, causing significant left front end damage.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of recent dispatches.

* On Sunday, Feb. 26 at 10:55 p.m. GFD was dispatched to an alarm at 301 E. Seminary St. but was disregarded at 10:58 p.m.

* On Monday, Feb. 27 at 4:47 p.m. personnel assisted police at 517 E. Washington St. Cleared 5:05 p.m.

At 7:08 p.m. the fire department was dispatched to 106 Spring St. but was disregarded at 7:10 p.m.

* On Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 3:10 a.m. GFD assisted Operation Life at 1141 Canterbury Dr. Cleared 3:19 a.m.

At 11:23 p.m. crews responded to 1292 U.S. 231 North for an investigation. Cleared 12:27 a.m.

* On Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 1:16 a.m. a GFD crew assisted the Cloverdale Township Fire Department by covering the fire station, 51 Market St., Cloverdale. Cleared 2:45 a.m.

At 10:18 a.m. crews responded to an alarm at Humbert Hall, 208 E. Olive St. Nothing was found. Cleared 10:31 a.m.
