Weather siren testing to resume Friday

Thursday, March 1, 2012

The Putnam County Emergency Management Agency will resume testing of the county's severe weather sirens on Friday, March 2, weather permitting.

Testing will be conducted at 11 a.m. on the first Friday of each month, except in the event of inclement weather.

Although Putnam County used to conduct the tests more often, the EMA reduced the frequency to one a month in 2011, which falls in line with most agencies' testing procedures.

At some point later in March, the county will also conduct its annual tornado drill, at which time the sirens will also be sounded. The time and date of the drill will be announced later.
