Chad Collins tied for 68th after first round of Honda Classic

FLORIDA -- Chad Collins began The Honda Classic with an opening round 71 Thursday in Palm Beach Gardens.

Collins carded a bogey on the ninth hole to move him to even par through nine holes played. On the back nine he recorded eight pars and a bogey on the 14th hole to account for his one-over-par score.

On the front nine, he recorded back-to-back birdies on holes No. 3 and No. 4, but followed that with bogeys on No. 6 and No. 9. Collins in one of 20 players sitting at one-over for the tournament, along with Tiger Woods and Charlie Wi.

After returning from an injury, Collins is looking to make his first cut of the 2012 season at The Honda Classic. He will tee off at 1:10 p.m. today in second round action.
