Special session brings end to Rogers' and Largent's contracts

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

BAINBRIDGE-- The North Putnam School Corporation terminated the contracts of band director Craig Rogers and volunteer swim coach Brandon Largent during a special session board meeting on Monday evening.

The terminations came following child seduction charges against Rogers and Largent, which were filed Tuesday, Feb. 28. The two were charged with the same child seduction charges involving the same 16 year-old male student.

Although a third staff member, Nicholas Vester, was also charged in the case, there was no contract for the board to terminate as he served as a substitute Spanish teacher for approximately 12 weeks this past fall.

All three subjects are being charged with a Class D felony, which is punishable by six months to three years in prison with a fine of not more than $10,000.

The board also accepted the resignations of Tom Wiseman, effective immediately, as the director of operations as well as Brian Crabtree as a physical education teacher and head football coach, effective at the end of the 2011-12 school year.
