Cloverdale Middle School wins WCC

The Cloverdale Middle School wrestling team captured the West Central Conference title this past Saturday. North Putnam placed third, South Putnam placed fourth and Greencastle placed fifth on the day.

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Middle School wrestling team recently won the West Central Conference title. Cloverdale won with a total of 255, with North Putnam placing third with 241, South Putnam fourth with 233 and Greencastle fifth with 134 points.

In the A tournament, Michael Anderson (100), Nick Blundell (120) and Robert Buskirk (180) were first-place finishers for the Clovers. Wyatt Helterbrand (70), Peyton Asbury (80), Blake Willis (90), Jake Wilkes (95), Nick Bennett (105), Anthony Stone (110), Jerry Burton (125) and Payton Skadra (140) placed second on the day.

Jacob Weaver (75), Trey Henry (85), Michael Roberts (125) placed third and Joey Bright (155) and Cody Storrs (220) finished fourth on the day.

Brady Szczerbik (90), Bradley Johnson (95) and Garrett Hamilton (125) placed first in the B tournament, while Marcus Priest (80), Ford Mayhew (90), Ezra Lesko (95) and Ethan Stattner (125) finished second for Cloverdale.

Anderson, Blundell and Buskirk were named the Cloverdale Wrestlers of the Meet.
