Friday night lights

Saturday, March 31, 2012

A crash occurred Friday evening on Indianapolis Road at the intersection of the Family Video and Kroger entrances. Nitrika Price was traveling eastbound on Indianapolis Road in a 2008 Ford Focus, while Joe Sutherlin was traveling westbound in a 2004 Ford F350 truck. Sutherlin was waiting at the light to turn left into the Family Video lot when the head-on collision occurred. Sutherlin reportedly attempted to stop to avoid hitting Price but slid due to wet road conditions. Price's car had to be towed from the scene with minimal damage to Sutherlin's truck. Damage was reported between $5,000-$7,500. Greencastle Police Department officers Matt Huffman and Ed Wilson responded to the call, with Sgt. Chris Jones acting as the investigating officer. Greencastle Fire Department and Operation Life were also on scene.

  • A very flippant and disrespectful title to this story. I'm sure the men involved in the accident didn't appreciate it!

  • I'm surprised there aren't more accidents due to the poor design of this intersection. A left turn ban into Family Video would be a good start to fix it.

  • There is no need in a left turn ban! Just pay attention to what you are doing. Any intersection is dangerous if monkey's are behind the wheel.

  • Was Sutherlan "traveling westbound" or was he "waiting at the light to turn left"? If he "reportedly attempted to stop to avoid hitting Price", then he wasn't waiting for the light to turn left. Just sayin..
