Peace Lutheran celebrates Holy Week

Friday, April 6, 2012

Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 S. Bloomington St. Greencastle, will continue its celebration of Holy Week with services on Friday and Sunday.

Good Friday worship will take place at Peace as worshippers prayerfully recall Christ's journey to the Cross. A Tenebrae service of candlelight gradually changing to darkness will begin at 7 p.m. on April 6th.

The service of Tenebrae is adapted from a traditional Christian service dating from the eighth century. Organist Darcy McCoy will be accompanying the worship service and Pastor Alan Barber will narrate the story of Christ's passion and death.

An Easter pitch-in breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday will precede the 10:15 a.m. worship. Special music will be provided by soloist David Pienta who will sing "Christ is Arisen." The choir conducted by organist Darcy McCoy will sing "Hail Thee, Festival Day."

Members of the community and students at DePauw are invited to celebrate the resurrection with the congregation at Peace.
