FILLMORE -- A Coatesville man died in a one-vehicle crash on Rangeline Road in eastern Putnam County Saturday night.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigation indicates that 35-year-old Timothy S. Horner of Coatesville was eastbound approaching County Road 750 East near Bethel Church. He appeared to have lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Deputy Matt Biggs said marks on the gravel road indicated that Horner's 2000 Ford F250 was completely sideways prior to leaving the road, traveling west but facing south.

The vehicle struck the ditch on the south side of the road, causing it to go into a barrel roll. Horner was ejected at this time, and the truck appeared to have landed on top of his body.

The truck rolled again, continuing east before coming to rest on its top.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the accident at 11:07 p.m. and found Horner unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary indications are that alcohol was a factor in the crash, as officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol from the driver's body. Official results will be determined by autopsy.
